This LJ has been in hibernation long enough. I didn't even remeber my password anymore and had to get a new one.

Aurinko paistaa, minkä kerkiää. Eilen tuli käytyä pienellä kävelyllä Pyhäjärven rannassa. Onneksi otin aurinkolasit mukaan, sillä muuten olisi kyllä taatusti iskenyt päänsärky kotiin palattua - sen verran tehokas yhdistelmä tuo aurinko & lumi on.

Permanent collection.
After the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the man-made horror of the explosion at the vampire summit, Sookie Stackhouse is safe but dazed, yearning for things to get back to normal. But her boyfriend, Quinn, is among the missing. And things are changing, whether the Weres and vamps in her corner of Louisiana like it or not. In the ensuing battles, Sookie faces danger, death...and, once more, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood has ceased flowing, her world will be forever altered...

Once again Sookie finds herself in the middle of vampire (and Were) politics and power struggles. I thought it was a good thing the plot didn't focus just on finding Quinn - Sookie was worried about him, yes, but the book took place in Bon Temps and Sookie didn't have to travel anywhere. (Well, for the most part.) It was interesting to find out more about Sookie's new relatives, but on the other hand... Is everybody in Bon Temps some sort of supernatural creature soon? I hope not.
In this book a certain someone recovers from his amnesia. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

No proper journal entries for these (yet)...

Is that all? 62?

Oh well, this year a lot of my free time has gone into watching music videos on Youtube and reading band interviews and fan forum discussions. ;-) And I think I've seen more gigs this year than in the previous two years combined! (Although that doesn't take much...) The last gig of the year I saw was Amorphis here in Tampere on the 18th of this month.

[ profile] vierran45 was right. The chili-basil pastries are yummy!
I bought a bottle of sweet chili sauce today and made some as per [ profile] vierran45's instructions.

Happy Independence Day, everyone!
I'm watching the president’s Independence Day reception online. And following #linnanjuhlat tweets. Not nerdy at all, no...

Here we go again. I repeated my 'one picture a day' project - for symmetry's sake I guess.

We had a lovely autumn day today. I went for a walk with a friend, and this time I even remembered to take my camera with me.

Last night Nightwish performed the last show of their 2-year-long Dark Passion Play tour. I was there. Hartwall Areena was sold out (11 000 - 12 000 people), and the band had an excellent show with special guests Troy Donockley and Pekka Kuusisto. Just before singing The Islander Marco asked us to light our cell phones (or, you know, actual lighters), and then the whole arena was an amazing sea of lights - or like a sky full of stars. They continued with Walking in the Air and... wow! It was really beautiful.
Here's a short clip of the song and the lights:

A short clip of the lights (The Islander):

Setlist: Finlandia with Troy, 7 Days to the Wolves, Ever Dream, Wishmaster, Romanticide, Amaranth, The Siren with Pekka, While Your Lips Are Still Red w/Pekka, The Poet and the Pendulum, TPatP part 2, Nemo, Sahara, Dark Chest of Wonders, The Islander, Walking in the Air w/Troy, Last of the Wilds w/Troy, Meadows of Heaven w/Troy, Ghost Love Score, Marco & Anette + waves, Wish I Had an Angel + pyros, outro (The Heart Asks Pleasure First).

Oh, and Apocalyptica played there too. (Actually, that's why I decided to buy a ticket to this concert in the first place.)
This time their guest vocalist was Stam1na's Antti "Hyrde" Hyyrynen.

Sauna at the summer cottage. ♥

Last weekend I spent my Sunday at Ankkarock in Vantaa. It was a long day... I got up at seven in the morning (the bus left quite early) and returned home around 2 a.m. In addition to the bands I went there to see, I ended up watching Pintandwefall's gig in its entirety (those girls were energetic and funny!), the tail-end of Apulanta's set and also Volbeat's gig (they were a bit boring, imo). Oh, and Testament's gig was shown also on Korsolava stage's screens, so I saw parts of their show, too. (Lots of pit action going on in there. Yikes!)

The three I actually wanted to see:

Amorphis )

Turisas )

Sonata Arctica )

I've been meaning to post this for a month now... Better late than never, eh?
In the beginning of June I was at the Sauna Open Air metal festival. Why? Because my favourite cello rockers were playing there on Friday [BTW, if anyone is interested, Apocalyptica's recent gig at Ilosaarirock is available at Yle Areena for 30 days:] and on Sunday I wanted to see Nightwish and Stratovarius. This year's Sauna wasn't very sauna-like. It was quite cold on Friday (+7°C, cloudy, occasional showers), but it wasn't too bad - it was just a matter of dressing according to weather. Still, I was glad it was warmer on Sunday (+16°C and sunny). On Friday I was there with a colleague of mine, and on Sunday I went just by myself. Saturday was the festival's biggest day (10 000 visitors) because Mötley Crüe was headlining then, but I wasn't there - I was at the Finnish bookcrossers' summer meet-up in Nauvo.

Some pictures and a bunch of MySpace and YouTube links (clips of varying quality) under the cut.
